Working with me
I charge a creative fee and a per photo rate, but will provide a bespoke quote for each project. I will also advise on timings, for the amount of photos purchased.
This fee is for the planning of the shoot, my photographic expertise, plus the use of my professional equipment.
Yes – your final images will be edited, colour corrected and retouched, to get the final result. Editing is included within the quotation that you receive. This is where the magic happens and I would never hand over images that were unedited.
I typically operate across the South Coast of England. These are the key areas I cover: London, Isle of Wight, Hampshire, Dorset, Surrey, Kent, Berkshire, Wiltshire, West Sussex, East Sussex and Somerset. However, I would travel outside of this radius for the right opportunity, so please do get in touch.
When I am required to travel outside of my typical areas (as listed above),travel would usually be chargeable. However, this rate will change depending on distance and work schedules. In some cases, it may not be applicable, but this is always on a case by case basis.
To give you an idea of expenses that could be incurred: accommodation (if required), travel (such as fuel, train or ferry tickets), parking, congestion charges (if working in city centres) or rental of any specialist equipment (again, if required – but this is a rarity).
The Technical Bit
Yes and no. I use artificial light where required and natural light where it’s available. Even when using artificial light, my aim is always to create natural looking scenes, using the lighting to emulate natural sunlight. I mostly shoot with the lights off too. It is surprising how much the camera can see!
Yes, I can share photos with you on the day. However, they will look somewhat different to the finished photo, so you will need to have an open mind. I will be happy to explain to you my vision for the photo and usually capture extra shots, just in case an edit doesn’t turn out quite how I plan.
Image Delivery
I send all of my clients high and low resolution JPG files. A high resolution image will be approximately 10MB in size and 300ppi. A low resolution file will be approximately 500MB and 72ppi. I can provide TIFF files on request. I shoot in AdobeRGB, so can export to AdobeRGB or sRGB depending on whether you intend to use the photos for web or print.
I deliver completed files via WeTransfer. I also use Shootproof as part of the selection process. This software allows you to choose your favourites, so that I know which images to edit. Additional images can also be purchased by adding them to your basket. You will usually receive images within 21 days, unless otherwise agreed on a faster delivery.
Yes, I do try to keep a copy of every job that I undertake including original RAW image files, but only for the first year. It is never guaranteed that files will be kept.
Yes. My style is light, bright and airy. Colours are very true to life, whites are always white and I pay attention to the small details. I do not edit to any other styles, so please make sure you are happy with my work before you book.
The Legal stuff
In all circumstances, I will own the copyright to the images. I provide my clients with a license to use the images, but this does not give third parties permission to use the images also (this will incur an additional license fee). As the image owner, I will have permission to share any photos I take to my personal website and social media pages, as well as using the images for advertising purposes.
I offer Non-exclusive rights of use, which means that a client would buy a licence for the specific purposes that they wish to use the photos for.
For example; my standard license includes website and social media use. Photography for advertising purposes will be charged at an additional fee, based on the audience size. I offer unlimited use, in terms of time, so you have the right to use the images indefinitely.
As a Professional Photographer, all of my equipment and services are fully insured – for both my own protection, and yours.
